Hi,
My name is Matt Samulski and I am the "Car Guy". I spent over 20 years working for car dealerships and just recently started my own UA-cam channel. Even after all these years in the car business I get excited getting into a new vehicle. I love luxury vehicles but also find pleasure in the regular mainstream cars. If you do have a cool vehicle and would like me to make a video of it please reach out and let's talk.

I think Honda sold her reputation to GM. Thank you Matt!!!
Matt, great review! I want one, but no Lexus dealership is giving deals right now. Going to have to wait until it cools down! Subscribed!
I bought a 2022 Kia K5 GT-line brand new I now have 61k on it not one issue still looks and drives like the day I bought it.
Great info!
I am ok with merging/highway speed. 😂I am not sure about the complaints on the 2.0L engine. Even in city, drives well.
That's the important part.
“Why not buy a CX-90 and fold the third row seat?” …because I am thinking of a replacement for my 2019 CX-9 Signature, but the CX-90 doesn’t offer a second row bench in the top trims, and I have rarely used the third row in my current vehicle.
Good point! Althought it would be much cheaper for Mazda to make bench seats optional on CX-90 than marketing a whole new model.
@@MattTheCarguy I would assume so. I don’t understand why so many car manufacturers are refusing to offer a second row bench on their top trims. The Grand Highlander offers relatively comfortable third row accommodations. But why would I buy such a large vehicle and not benefit from all the seating space I can get?
@@bill7481 i get it however i am in a different situation for now with 2 child seats in the middle row seats. I need to have the "pass through" to get to the third row, unless its 40/20/40 in the back where i can fold down the middle part.
@@MattTheCarguy That’s a valid point. So, offering the bench as an option on the top trims would be a sensible solution.
I want one sooo bad but I only have $2k 💀😭
You can put that as down payment.
How is the noise level on the road?
I wish i had it for longer time but for the short time i had it seemed fine.
I hate those black wheels. Those black wheels have kept me from buying a nissan rogue.I like all silver.
You can get a different trim.
204” in length is mid sized? Not sure about that. 😂😂😂
Crazy right? Yukon is their large SUV.
@@MattTheCarguy I had a hard time adjusting to the size of the new Pathfinder! I’m amazed at people driving these large vehicles!
You turn the lights on via the large middle touchscreen. Theres an icon along the top of the screen.
Thank you! I figured it out later in this video. Makes no sense.
It is better than Accord. Accord has lots of good things going for it so it’s not trash but Honda got stingy and cut corners and doesn’t even have vents in back seats and bass sounds awful standard. No fog lamps. Even CRVS turn off while in park for a few minutes without option to disable. Go K5!
Definitely K5 is more interesting option.
And why do we continue with large wheels.sad
Thats the best part!
I have a 2022 Lexus GX 460 premium plus with 7700 miles if they offer me at least 56000 I may trade it for the IS500
I dont sell cars but that seems like a lot.
no
It is expensive.
@MattTheCarguy It's a stripped-down, re-badged power wagon made in Mexico, I own a 2024 with 1306 miles and already a check engine light, bad egr, and it tows less then a 2022 chevy 1500 sharrod custom with only a 5.3 in it. It's called instant regret. So, price wise, it's not as bad as my 2023 power wagon, same motor, same as pretty much everything except lockers, and oddly, same exact front end, but mileage per power...sad. Ya, NO was the best right answer.
Thanks for the content!
Can anyone explain how the infotainment transforms with Apple carplay? If it's a touchscreen for that shouldn't it be touchscreen always? The controlling knob is one thing turning me off from this car, just like the touchpad in the RDX that I'm waiting to purchase till they do away with...
Its a software settings that is not enabled on Mazda infotainment. Such a shame. I bet someone already figured out how to enable it.
After owning Mazda for three years, you will see the control knob is a significant advantage of this car. It comes with many shortcut buttons like map and music, which you will need every time you drive, and it’s a touch screen while in apple CarPlay(l never used a touch screen cause the control knobs are a better way to function the center screen), the control knob is my favorite part about Mazda
"Why not buy the CX-90 and fold down the 3rd row?" 1. Can't get a CX-90 with second row bench seat in higher trims 2. The front fascia of the CX-70 looks much better
Bench seat may be a good reason, but to make a new model for it? Why not have an option for the bench seat in Cx-90 and offer a front trim as a Sport Package or something. Would save a lot on marketing a new model.
Exactly, also The CX-70 has a way better-looking 21-inch wheels
I am totally with you on reason #1. I am currently in this situation. I am thinking of a replacement for my 2019 CX-9 Signature, but the CX-90 doesn’t offer a second row bench in the top trims.
This Lexus looks like the old Toyota CHR, now discontinued in the USA 🇺🇸 markets???
The CHR is discontinued in US. I think it may be the same platform.
Good review and POV review. EX is nice but Sunroof is a no no. Too many potential problems .Not good in 🔥 Hot climate, not good in the wintery parts of the country. Honda.,where is the Hood insulation pad????
Thank you! Honestly i dont my sunroof either, i dont care that its there and we never had an issue with it.
On my way to Orlando tomorrow, ordered the extraordinary class which is hopefully the X5 as I am a BMW freak also at Sixt. Thank you for the video
You are welcome. Most likely thats what you'll get. If you lucky you may get the new model with large screens.
Correction. They do NOT have cup holders in the cargo area. They are NOT the same as in the CX90 and are just small storage holders. This has been misstated in many reviews. I own the CX70 Turbo S Premium Plus and have compared them to the cup holders in the CX90. I LOVE the CX70 and bought it because I have absolutely NO need for a 3 row SUV and honestly would not have bought the CX90.
I'm considering the CX-70 for the same reason you do. I'll have to go test drive one soon, but do you believe the cargo area is big enough for two small dogs (pugs) + 1 large piece of luggage?
@@sandroscielzo9964 The cargo area is HUGE! It should accommodate two small dogs and even more than 1 large piece of luggage. The Cargo Volume on the CX70 alone is over 40 cubic feet of storage space behind the second row seats and significantly more with the second row seats folded down.
Very strange placement and look of the "storage holders" what would you store there? Cups?
@@MattTheCarguy If you put a drink there, it will fall over. It's not deep, nor round to accommodate a drink or cup. I have no need to use them personally, so I haven't attempted to put anything there.
you are correct, I just looked at my CX-90 video and those were round, so they use the same mold for the bottom and put some useless holders in a place where no one reaches. Love the car, but few things just don't make sense.
Does anyone else see the problem down the road on owning a vehicle covered in panels of piano black plastic. Most people dislike it in the interior because it shows dust. So outside in the sun, you will get bugs, rack chips, and grime on the front louvers, the lower kick panels will get scratched or scuffed, plus if utmost care isn’t taken cleaning them, it’s easy to marr the shiny plastic finish. I’ve a Santa Fe with the lower trim, wheel arches, all being flat black tough plastic that isn’t as affected because it’s flat, not shiny, so not as noticeable. Just my 2 cents.
Good point. We have a 5 year old Honda Pilot and all the shiny parts are showing signs of wear. Solution? Trade it in before it becomes an issue 🤣
Thank you for this review, I have seen a lot of reviews on this model, but yours is super detailed even on the exterior! Appreciate the passion and work you put in...
My pleasure! Thank you for watching! I am hoping to film convertible next week.
@@MattTheCarguy Perfect! On another note, will you be reviewing the s class 63 E (AMG)? Would love to see it
@@sweetee77so funny thing happen today. My dealership had 2 CLE cabriolets, one top was stuck in open position, second, screens were frozen. Must have been made on Monday 😢
@@MattTheCarguy😂😂 these things happen! Personally, I don’t like cabriolets anyway. I am hoping to purchase the cle450 soon
Just got one premium plus , it looks luxury exterior and interior, love it
Very nice! Enjoy your new ride!
Congratulations! Enjoy your new car!
3 weeks with mine here in Quebec. My wheels are all black.
Oh, you got them earlier in Canada. How do you like it so far?
@@MattTheCarguy really satisfied 🥰
Nice design
It's a very nice vehicle, but they left off the foglights! Big omission. More light is always good. Most of the other vehicles in the segment included them. Why MAZDA? They should've made it an option and they still can aftermarket. We'll see if they do that. You always want to at least shoot par for the course. It's the perfect vehicle for an " empty-nester " like myself.😉
That would be a nice option to have. Especially in dark rural areas.
I am with you on this. I don’t know why car manufacturers are leaving out fog lights. They are not just a matter of function; they do a lot for the visual appeal of any vehicle. And I don’t want them in the headlight assembly; I want them separate, low in the bumper for maximum visual effect.
I love it, but I'm confused, like everyone else, about where it fits. When in reality, the second row doesn't have more room.
I was hoping for more room in the back as well but all they did is remove third row seat. Still, nice SUV.
Amazing review Matt & I can't wait to buy this.
Thank you as always. You must have a huuuge garage lol.
Great job Matt and I cannot wait to drive this.
You won't be dissapointed!
Im getting this exact car tomorrow, and I feel this was an excellent introduction.
Thank you very much and congratulations on your new vehicle.
No spare and no flat floor is a deal breaker for ME. I had a late model Honda with no spare tire that left me stranded at 2am waiting for a tow. I hit a pothole that punctured the sidewall so the fix a flat kit was useless! I know I can buy a spare and put it in the rear but really ???
On a hybrid unfortunately there is no room for spare as that's where the battery is. Unless of course you just keep it in the cargo area.
CRV or RAV4 Hybrid?
For the 1.2L it's a timing BELT and for the 1.3L it's a timing CHAIN....so if you plan to keep the truck for a long time, better to go with the 1.3L
Good tip! Thanks!
I was trying to decide between the Honda Ridgeline and Toyota Tacoma and for me the Honda Ridgeline is the most practical truck for my needs. So now I’m picking up my 2024 Honda Ridgeline Trailsport on Thursday.
Good choice. Congratulations!
Don't understand why everyone besides Japan gets the water down version of the cars. The Japanese version is so much better.
I was just looking on Japanese website and could not even find a Camry there. They have Corolla, Crown and Mirai in their sedan section.
Great review!
Thank you!
Thanks but you're mistaken, this tranny is an E-CVT. Honda: Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT).
How about a real option/review? I have this car 2025 GT-Line Yacht Blue. We test drove the Honda and Toyota first, no thanks. My husband wanted to get rid of his Big Truck because we no longer needed it and she was a gas hog. KIA’s Power Train warranty is still the best. This 2025 is what I picked out, he likes it. This is our third KIA and will be our last. I have been driving this car for a few weeks now. Saving money on regular gas is a plus, a new $500+ car payment for the GT-line AWD is not. My honest opinion this car hasn’t changed much from my 2013 Optima EX. This car has no bells and whistles(no sunroof, no bass in the radio and only driver’s seat is electric ) for a GT-line AWD you get heated seats, heated steering wheel, they come standard now. With parking assistance and some new safety features that the Optima did not have. This car feels lighter with thin door panels with road noise being at a minimal with insulated windows/panels . This is not a car that you’ll want to drive long distances or get in and out of a lot. Yeah the outside is different but the inside is distracting with horrible blind spots still even with blind spot monitors, red warning blink on side mirrors without sound is all you get and I still look twice. Without the heads up display or surround cams being included is ridiculous for the price. There’s nothing GT-“Grand Touring” about this coming from a driver that’s been driving a Stinger GT1 V6 3.3L Twin Turbo that only uses Premium gas, she’s not going anywhere I have her paid off. I would rather not pay for summer premium gas @ almost $5 a gallon (Bidenomics). I WILL NOT BUY AN ELECTRIC CAR! This car will be our city driver because she is cheap on gas in a big city. This car after MSRP, Taxes and Title + interest and destination charge $1158 will through you back $43,000+ I’m not kidding with 72-84 months of payments with a 847 out of 850 credit score. That’s what I almost paid for my Stinger. My husband has a work vehicle and will not be driving the K5 on a daily basis. This is my opinion.. “First Amendment Right”. God Bless America and the return of all American made Automobiles.
Thanks for the comment. I guess I am a bit confused trying to figure out if you like it or not, lol. Of course if you compare it to the Stinger the K5 is a hog, also costs you 1000's less and uses regular gas. Early K5 are coming from Korea but from what I heard later it will be made in West Point, Georgia. Also, are you calculating the cost of a vehicle including interest in 43K? Otherwise you probably overpaid as the GT-line AWD with GT-Line premium package and destination lists at $32745, if you add 10% for taxes and fees you are jsut over 36K which is very competitive in the segment. We can only compare it to what else is out there. Thanks again for the commebt and enjoy your new K5!
@@MattTheCarguy Matt your welcome. My K5 just got off of the boat in Tacoma Washington Port of Entry. I was talking about my Big Truck being a gas hog that’s why we got rid of it and purchased the K5. There is no comparison between K5 to a Stinger no way. I was talking about the investment that you will have to make to own this car, This K5 GT-line AWD (Not Premium Package) is $29,775.00 Inland Freight and Handling $1155.00, with the MSRP+TAX+TITLE+INTEREST @8% that’s with perfect credit + $2200 for extended 10 yr 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty (Kia’s 10yr 100,000 mile warranty is for the Powertrain only) is for 5 years or 30,000 on everything else = This car will cost $43,060.96 at least that’s what is on my contract if I went with 72-84 months of payments and I will not. I was talking about the “GT” it has no business being on this small sedan. “GT” is so overused on todays cars and that’s too bad.
@@cyndim8785 Unfortunately the interest is really high now if there is no subsidized financing. warranty sounds about right if you chose to go this route. Everything is expensive. Hopefully something will change next year.
I am olanning to buy one nice video bro❤
Good choice. Thanks for watching!
Very good looking Jeep. I go with the high altitude.
You bought one? I like High Altitude trim.
@@MattTheCarguy Not yet. But I'm planning on getting one.
I love it so much that I'm awaiting the arrival of ours any day now. It is the heritage blue first edition just as you demo'd. Can't wait to get our hands on it! PS- we have a baby blue '68 Land Cruiser as well. They will look neat sitting next to each other 68 years apart. 😬👍
That's awesome! They will look great together. I wish you could attach photos to comments.
Superscreen and all passenger displays are dumb gimmicks. They are redundant because of the central infotainment which is perfectly accessible to the passenger. They are also obsolete (or soon to be) because of phones and tablets. I'd never sacrifice the interior decor and architecture for the passenger display, even if it didn't come at a big upcharge. The one exception I can think of is the passenger display in Ferraris (which generally makes bad interiors).
That's why we have choices. Some people like stuff that others don't.
@@MattTheCarguy I'm not blaming any particular customer. I'm blaming the OEMs and their despicable design trends like piano black, fake exhaust, capacitive touch, and passenger displays. Not only is the design suffering, but the functionality and ergonomics are suffering. If any particular individual wants a passenger display, fine. But they have no place in Mercedes and Porsche - go buy a hyundai. With the exception of the W223 S class and W214 E Class, Mercedes' current lineup is significantly lower quality than last generation in terms of materials. Mercedes killed the S-coupe, E-coupe, CLS, GT 4-door. If Mercedes is struggling to maintain its interior quality and model range because of mandatory R&D on electric vehicles, it shouldn't be wasting any money on these useless displays. Mercedes' head product planner even admitted in an interview that the current models use cheaper materials because they set up their current supply chain during the pandemic when they erroneously thought demand for premium cars would decrease. :(
On higher models the quality is still there. C and below i agree they have gone down. I worked for Mercedes dealership for several years and we always had trouble getting rid of s coupes and cabrios, they were not selling very well, same thing with any coupe. Now they combined the C and E coupes into a CLE and thats not bad. As far as EVs i think they are switching course now as these are sitting on their lots no matter how many incentives they throw out there. Speaking with some contacts on the inside i know they are working on some new ice engines as well.
@@MattTheCarguy yep! Agree. I drive an c238 E-coupe and would love an S coupe. I get that they are not popular cars but it’s still a shame. The CLE looks great but the interior being ripped from the C class is a dealbreaker. It’s exclusively hard-touch plastics and fake wood and metal. I’m really disappointed in the current C class. If they were going to combine the C and E coupes/cabs and cancel the S, the CLE should have a bespoke interior, or at least the E class interior. I know that the customers bullied Mercedes into putting the V8 into the CLE63 by boycotting the 4cyl c63, but I still wont buy a $100k car with a C class interior. All manufacturers are walking back their EV plans. Anyway, glad to hear they are spending time and money on new ICE, but I’d like them to ditch the bad stuff inside for each car’s respective facelift. For example, I’m holding out that they might get rid of the off-the-shelf capacitive touch controls and piano black plastic seat control modules. My point was that they already made the mistake of allocating too much budget into EVs which didn’t pay off - the quality of all their cars are suffering. I’m just happy to see the E class got soft-touch everywhere. I might consider an E wagon or S class after the facelift. Otherwise, I’ll probably get an 8-series next. The GLE and GLS, despite having come out close to the 206 C and w223 S were the latest to receive the prior-gen designs, so they don’t count.
@echoalpha9157 its a tough one. I love the M340i but there is something about that naturally aspirated V8 and the quality and reliability of Lexus that would be hard to pass. This also may be the last year for the V8 and that means that it will retain higher resale value in the future. Interior is dated, I agree but has most of the comfort creatures that one needs.
So not even 200 miles of range in a full gas tank? Am i reading it wrong?
Estimated 359 miles in range. Where are you finding 200?
@@MattTheCarguy on the Dashboard in the video(unless i am really blind 😂😂😂)
@@edsoto7 you are right. The computer calculates the range based on "current" mpgs so if its sitting and idling its burning gas without putting any miles so it probably shows 5-10 mpg and with 18.5 gallon tank it will calculate up to 185 miles. The real mileage is not great but its not that bad lol. 16mpg is average. Up to 20.
So is the SUV faster and has a better internal setup than the sedan?
What SUV has the V8?
@@MattTheCarguy thanks for answering. I am really struggling here because the interior is just dated and no AWD. I don't know if I should go with the BMW M340i or an Audi etc within the 50 to 65k price range
@@echoalpha9157I cross shopped the m340i, it’s a nice car, interior quality is very nice too. I just fell in love with the high revving v8 so I overlooked the dated interior. The exterior styling imo is nicer than the m340i. The m340i is certainly quicker off the line, but I don’t really care about 0-60 times, it’s quick enough for me as a daily driver. Best of luck on whatever you purchase!
As a Honda owner i wanted this to be good. Ill keep waiting.
me too, they definitely have the technology although I was hoping they were going to build on their hydrogen technology rather than electric.
@@MattTheCarguy I too was hoping for hydrogen. Would be good for long trips I think.
For those who don't want a turbo, this is a good engine because it has both PORT and Direct fuel injection. The port injection helps keep the back of the intake valves free of carbon buildup. It's just enough oomph to get all your errands done but don't load it up with grown folks and head to the mountains.
Great info! Thanks.
It would be Nice to have in Fl for those warm days
True, especially in the winter when its bearable 😄
This car weighs 2 tons lol
But has enough power to make it fly. 🤣
No sun / pano roof in a Denali!?!?!?!?
Not as standard equipment this year.
It doesn’t have a 12 V power adapter in the front. What’s up with that ? I have a dash cam that needs a round 12V plug. Can’t use this car. Why does Kia think people don’t use these plugs anymore ? How stupid of them.
That is strange. Is there one on the side of the console?
